Your escort guide will pick you up at your accommodation in Colombo and take you to Kandy.
Â
Temple of the Sacred Teeth relic:Â The golden-roofed Temple of the Sacred Tooth is Sri Lanka's most significant Buddhist relic containing a tooth of the Buddha. The heavily guarded room that houses the tooth is open to tourists and devotees during puja. You don't see the actual tooth. The tooth is kept in a golden casket that looks like a stupa. It contains six coffins of decreasing size. The complex also includes smaller temples, museums, shrines, and the main temple.
Â
Kandy Lake is known as Kiri Muhunda or the Sea of Milk. It was built by King Sri Wickramarajasinghe in 1807, next to the Temple of the Tooth. It has been reduced over the years. The lake is protected, and fishing is prohibited. The lake is the subject of many legends. The king's helm used to bathe on the island in the middle of the lake. A secret tunnel connected it. Spend a night in Kandy.
After a mood-refreshing breakfast, you will be driven directly to Sigiriya.
Pidurangala Rock:Â Pidurangala Rock, which is just a little lower than Sigiriya Rock, is the best place to view Sigiriya Rock. Pidurangala Rock is a popular sunrise spot, offering 360-degree panoramic views of the valleys and Sigiriya Rock.
Sigiriya rock:Â King Kashyapa, in the 5th Century, domesticated the Lions Rock by building a Palace atop the summit. It was well designed to defend it by having ramparts & moats constructed around it. The Rock is unique due to its shape, which cannot be found anywhere else on this island.
Water gardens and archaeological technology of the giant lion carving at the entrance have been preserved. They are precious. You will find colorful frescoes and unique paintings of women when you climb the steps.
The mirror wall in Sigiriya is another place to read the verses visitors have written. Their poems were mainly inspired by their experiences, love, and irony. Sigiriya is a monument to the turmoil of Sri Lankan history and has been declared a World Heritage Site. After arriving at the hotel, you can relax and enjoy the hotel's facilities. Stay overnight in a Sigiriya hotel.
After breakfast, you will be traveling to Polonnaruwa.
Â
Gal Vihara:Â The perfect Buddha statue carved out of solid Rock is found at the Buddhist Temple (UNESCO World Heritage Site), Polonnaruwa, in Sri Lanka. Gal Vihara statues were crafted during the reigns of King Parakrabahu (11153-1186 A.C). They are in perfect preservation and still have their sublimity. The sculptors at Gal Vihara had more excellent skill and expertise in the art of Sri Lankan stone sculpture. Images at Gal Vihara brought the viewers a higher level of awareness regarding Buddhist art from Sri Lanka.
Â
The Lankatilaka Temple is one of the most evocative buildings in Polonnaruwa. It was initially built by Parakramabahu and restored by Vijayabahu. The massive edge, a stone Buddhist temple with a corbelled roof and thick walls, has walls that are 17m high. However, the roof is collapsed. Sigiriya is a great place to spend the night after a temple visit.
Â
Isurumuniya:Â This charming rock temple, which dates from the reigns of Devanampiya Tissa (307-267 BC), surrounds a lotus pond. The corner is carved out with images of elephants playfully splashing water. The murals in the central temple are stunning. Climb up the Rock to the summit, and you'll see a bell-shaped stupa and Buddha footprints inscribed into the Rock.
Â
Jethawanaramaya-Jethawana Stupa, the largest stupa of Sri Lanka. It was originally 400 feet tall (122 meters) and the third-highest building in the entire world. Jethawanaramaya is still the tallest brick monument in the world, even today.
Â
Mihintale Mountain:Â Mihintale Mountain became a residence for the monks of Arahath Mahinda Mahathera with the arrival of Buddhism in Sri Lanka. The sanctuary was soon flooded with monastic structures, such as stupas, uposathgharas and bodhigharas. This was all done under the royal patronage. The monks were provided with sixty-eight cave dwellings.
It has everything you need to live comfortably.
After breakfast, Jaya Shri Maha Bodhi is the oldest tree documented in history. It's located in Anuradhapura. This is a sapling of the historical Bodhi, under which Buddha attained enlightenment. It is the oldest human-planted tree in the world, with a planting date. The Ven. Sanghamitta Therini is a sister to Arahath Mahinda, who brought the Teachings of Buddha to Sri Lanka.
Ruwanwelisaya: The oldest stupa in Sri Lanka, is considered an icon of architectural glory from ancient Sri Lanka. Ruwanwelisaya is the most sacred place for Buddhists. Its recognition, which rises in Anuradhapura city, makes it the oldest stupa. Ruwenwelisaya is a testament to his unmatched service in reviving Buddhism in the nation. The stupa is just a few steps from the Maha Bodhi Tree in Anuradhapura. The stupa is located in Anuradhapura, one of eight places of worship that Buddha visited during his three Sri Lankan visits. Spend a night in Anuradhapura.
